One thing you could do is to get in touch with nature.  Especially since over here in North America it's spring time.  So I suggest buy some plants or out in nature trails and chat with them.  I would also simply start "talking to yourself", your self and soul, since every soul knows everything already and is connected with the Divine so that if you "talk with yourself" you're not only talking with yourself literally but also to the Divine.  So feel free to chat and ask the Divine questions or yourself what you should do or how you should go about helping others.

As in daily life, just help others feel better about themselves or be a good friend to strangers, open and charitable.  At least that's what I do.  I would recognize the conscious and Divine in everything and anything.  So that if you talk with plants you're not only talking to the living entity but also through it, the Divine.  You can talk to the air and wind, earth and crystals, and candle flame and candle, and sun and etc.

You might feel silly at first but once you do it a few times it'll feel more natural and you may feel even more at peace.

Also, you desire to "help life heal protect and guide spirits" is very admirable.  But I would first start with myself before healing others.  If there are any challenges or issues or obstacles that you need to overcome in your own life I would heal and fix that.  To understand yourself, you end up understanding others.  To heal yourself, you end up healing others.  The inside and outside is the same.  The up and the down is the same as well.  Spirit and physical.  At least in my opinion.

Then, anyone you meet I would project or vibrate love and good feelings towards that person as you talk with strangers and people.

Or, if you find out a specific way to help (certain) people go ahead and do that!

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much! This makes me feel great! I will start today and hopefully find the calling the voice is telling me to find ❤ thank you so much I'm having a 4 day break in nature st the Lake District this weekend hopefully I find somewhere to connect then. Thanks so much Sophie x

Great stuff! :D.

The first assignment we were given in Wicca 101, many years ago, was to spend a week looking for the Goddess in daily life.  We were amazed and loved the assignment. Disney, the grocery store, currency, government buildings - she is everywhere, winking at us. The next week we looked for the God, no spoilers, but the Jolly Green Giant was one of many.  I recommend this exercise for any new Pagan.  Have fun!

To Ragnell's suggestion I would add one that I was encouraged to do.  Look at what I do everyday from a different perspective and find the sacred in it.  I'm talking about 'mundane' stuff.  Preparing meals for myself, my family and my pets, my day job and its tasks.  Working in the garden and taking care of houseplants, bathing, doing the laundry, sexy times.  You name it!  I still do this, and I probably will for the rest of my life.  It changed my attitude towards my routine and gave me the connection that I was wanting so badly, and which had actually been under my nose the entire time waiting for me to pay attention.  It helped with focusing on the here and now instead of only being half present as my hands performed a chore and my mind wandered.

Hey, that was the first assignment we had in my mother coven as students considering Dedication into their outer court! it's a good one.

This sounds awesome! How do I sign up for Wicca 101? I've been looking for a group that meshes with my beliefs, and so far everything I've seen about Wicca matches. But I'd like rather attend a meeting than just read about it because I feel I learn much more through interaction. How can I find a group in my area (near Minneapolis) and find out if they have meetings that are open to newbies?

What Ragnell and Bad Seed were referring to as 101 was an exercise both experienced during the early stages of training in their respective traditional Wicca covens when they entered the priesthood. :)

You can find many books (actually, most books) for solitary practitioners and so-called online "schools" that offer their idea of 101 material but neither is the same as the training in a traditional coven. They essentially offer the most basic concepts borrowed from traditional Wicca and then add in whatever their practices engage in.

Two places you can look on this site: forum member Lark has a beginner's reading list posted on her blog that will be helpful and there are various articles on Wicca and other pagan religions posted on the Work in Progress group. You can also search the discussions on the forum, pretty much any question a newcomer might have has been asked at one time or another.

Callisto, thank you.  I will look into the reading list.
