I agree. But sometimes it takes a while to face all that. BB!

Mortisha-
Thanks, for the comment. Sometimes things aren't always what they seem to be...and then you awaken and find the that the truth that you have been hiding for so long is the only truth.

There go the loves that wither,
The old loves with wearier wings;
And all dead years draw thither,
And all disastrous things;
Dead dreams of days forsaken,
Blind buds that snows have shaken,
Wild leaves that winds have taken,
Red strays of ruined springs.

From too much love of living,
From hope and fear set free,
We thank with brief thanksgiving
Whatever gods may be
That no life lives for ever;
That dead men rise up never;
That even the weariest river
Winds somewhere safe to sea.

thanks much for the clarification I would think now that one who follows the darker path should honor the light in equal balance in order to understand the intricacies of life, balance, light, and dark you have to know and understand both paths. In the words of Led Zeppelin :

Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
There's still time to change
The road you're on

Try to watch and understand this at least.

Well my friend it seems you have answered your own question. Read what you just wrote and you tell me.

If you'll notice nobody here is talking about hexing or doing any type of spell work at all. We're talking about our spiritual paths and the Gods we follow. Why could not someone worship Kali Ma and not do a healing for someone? Magick and religion are for the most part two separate things.
For example I would never charge for any of my Wiccan or Pagan classes. However if someone asked me to cast a spell for them I might charge them fifty bucks, that's about it. Also I check out what they want me to do, I don't do just anything.
One usually finds themselves walking a dark path when much trial and tribulation has happened in their lives.
Hekate for example teaches her followers to light their own torch in the dark. That is one of her many lessons.
So rather than sit around and mope about it they teach us how to cope and heal ourselves, that we may go forward and teach others the same.
You can read my profile for example and see what I mean.
I'm not an evil person, I just deal with the dark aspects in life. I do the nasty heavy work nobody else wants to do, and yet it has to be done.
We get picked so to speak, we're the real "lucky" ones in the bunch.
That being said, I celebrate the light half of the year with the best of them.
I'm happy to jump the Bel fire and feast and drink with my conveners. One really has to enjoy it while it lasts, because it can't shine all the time.
So when you're down and out, and begging for help you know where to find us.
We'll be standing at the crossroads holding a torch so you can find your way.
You're welcome.

thanks for the basic explanation I figured I would hear something close to this.

would you please tell me some of the things for example that can be learned from studying the dark path? Such as what are the curriculum for learning about the negative aspect and whether it involves negative magic or more of an understanding and complete control of the balance of emotion?
Laura Comment by Laura on July 21, 2010 at 3:50pm
Here is my explanation Lunarian-
The dark aspect is not some sort of personification of evil and all that is negative. Without the dark there is no balance , no birth, life and rebirth. We have to look at the dark aspects fully, and understand it. It is the balance in life and there nothing to fear within the dark. When we shun the dark apsects because of fear it inhibits our growth. When a person truly understands the need for the dark as well as the light and accept it as a part of everything and themselves there is a sense of being whole. The dark aspects are as much a part of who we are just as well as the light.

There are dark goddesses and dark gods, even in wicca there is a dark goddess aspect and a dark god aspect. The dark goddess through death brings rebirth. But she is also wisdom and justice. When the dark deities are shunned in fear of the unknown, we deny ourselves full understanding of all deities and what they have to offer. Many things can be taught within the dark aspect to obtain spiritual growth. The dark has beauty as well as the light.

I don't understand what all you mean by dark paganism.
How can you be a peaceful religious person when you practice dark magic.
Harmful magic towards others is wrong right out. If you take it upon yourself to judge others and use magic to exact said judgement you will see the karma that comes back. It is not our place to command the forces of nature and certainly not within our place to judge each other as no man's life is more important than another's. There is no one path and no one being has it within their power to overpower another. Who is to say one spell or form of magic is greater or more effective than another?

can someone please give me some explanation as to the definition and the difference between Dark Paganism and other forms of Pagan religion?
