Hi Everyone!

Now that the sun is getting higher in the sky and the temperatures are FINALLY starting to rise above... like... absolute zero, we are ramping up for this year's Summerland Spirit Festival.

One of the events that we have each year is a community burlesque show, where most of the attendees of the festival put on whatever crazy outfit they can come up with and dance. It's a total fun PG kind of thing that includes participants of all ages and body types. It is hilarious!

We hope that some of you decide to come check us out. It's a great community of people who come from about a dozen different states in he Midwest region. You will have a blast.

Many Blessings!

Dan, I'm going to say something that's may sound snippy, but it isn't intended that way. You're going to have to take the first steps yourself. Google is your best friend for awhile, as is the recommended reading list on this site.  When you learn some basics, you'll have an idea about which of the many paths in Neowicca or Wicca you'd like to pursue.  At that point we can give you some ideas about how to locate a teacher or a coven, and answer specific questions.

I'd add that training in the Craft is best done in person, not online.  But question us or throw out ideas and we love to bat them around.

There are also some good groups on this site, including Work in Progress, that can give you some accurate information about the Craft and paganism in general.  Keep reading, and don't be afraid to ask questions of people here who have experience in the Craft.

Indeed, Ragnell.  It the first thing I did try--without success, sadly.  At this  juncture, having a teacher I can be "face to face" with isn't my primary goal (although it would be nice, especially perhaps later on down the road).  What I really need more than anything is a teacher I can talk with and have back and forth conversations about what Wicca *means*...the philosophical and spiritual foundations as it were--before moving on to specifics about any particular denomination.

Brigitte, have you tried witchvox?

I'm completely new to Wicca and I'd love to be able to find someone who can start me off from the very beginning and explain things to me.

@Hugo, it would depend on whose definition of "pagan" that is being applied. Yes, from an Abrahamic POV any path that is other is deemed "pagan" regardless of whether that religion self-identifies as such. That doesn't make it so though, i.e., some outsiders declaration does not supersede the religion's self-declaration. Hell, there are Christian denominations that consider other Christian denominations, like Catholicism or Mormonism, to be "pagan". That doesn't make it so or that Catholics or Mormons self-identify as such or should be expected to accept such categorization.

Many Satanists and Lucifierians interact with and are involved with the Pagan community as there is a greater collective tendency by the Neopagann community to be accepting and inclusive. But that doesn't imply they all self-identify as pagan or would agree that their practices are pagan.  Just as Reconstructionist paths are polytheistic but commonly reject the label of "pagan" because it's not a term that the ancient religions self-identified with and it was applied by outsiders, subsequently as a pejorative. And overall, most Pagans do not give a toss about what non-pagans attempt to dictate.

I haven't seen that symbol but I rather like it. Can you tell us more?  Where did you find it?
