Magic, the Will, and the Suspension of Disbelief

I've often said that I believe magic to be more than a mere placebo effect.  Since that is the case, it might seem odd to some of you that I'm writing a blog entry about the "suspension of disbelief" and its place in magic and ritual work, but keep reading and it should begin to make sense. When we start out, it may seem odd to many of us that by the mere power of our will we can effect change in ourselves, our surroundings, and the world.  This, I believe, is mainly because many of us grow up…See More

About Me:
I've been studying for about ten years from books and online sources and have learned to discern credible information from the rest. I'm planning on attending Ardantane in the near future and hope to find a coven to help me further explore my spirituality.

I've just published the beginnings of my newest project -- Roots of Ritual, an educational site that provides every ritual resource on might need including essays on the steps of ritual, correspondences, articles on ritual debates, help with writing ritual, etc. Check it out: http://rootsofritual.wordpress.com

I'm an avid youtuber now with a fairly successful channel on Wicca and witchcraft (with a few vids on the Harry Potter fandom and albinism thrown in here and there). I love it, and I hope to become more active in that community over time.

I just received my certification in aromatherapy. While I don't profess to know everything there is, I am willing to help anyone who asks. Just send me a message and I'll help in any way I can whether it's mailing out blends, helping with recipes, etc. I love helping others, so don't be shy.

I'll throw in a disclaimer. I am not looking for a relationship on WT. If one is thrown in my lap, so be it, but I'm not anticipating that. I am a lesbian who has pretty much given up on the dating scene for now.

Ostara Retreat

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 1:30am 1 Comment

My study circle has been talking about doing a retreat of sorts for a few months now. We're planning on renting a lodge for the weekend and doing our Ostara ritual there. In addition, I'm trying to think of fun things we can do together. We'll only have two nights (we'll drive up the Friday after work, spend Friday night, occupy ourselves Saturday, do the ritual probably Saturday evening, spend Saturday night, and check out on Sunday; we'll then have a few hours to go hiking or do some other… Continue

The Solitary Wiccan Pledge

Posted on October 30, 2010 at 3:00pm 6 Comments

Did some people just stop and say "What? Aislynn posted something for solitary Wiccans?" If you did, calm down. This is for solitary practitioners who have based their practices on Wicca as well as those working in groups.

You're probably familiar with the Wiccan Pledge. Well, after thinking about it for a while during the course of writing our group Samhain ritual, Braeden and I couldn't figure out how to start it. The first person doesn't have anyone to pledge them in. It…

The Found Ritual

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 3:15pm 0 Comments

As some of you know from my previous post, Brae and I pieced together a "found ritual" for our study circle's first ritual together. For those of you not familiar with that term, we made it up. Lol! You're not alone. We based how we'd put it together by taking inspiration from found poetry ("Found poetry is a type of poetry created by taking words, phrases, and sometimes whole passages from other sources and reframing them as poetry by making changes in spacing and/or lines (and consequently… Continue

Thank you very much, Aislynn. :) I'll join and begin updating my knowledge on DRW. I'll be sure to ask if anything puzzles me.

Hello, Aislynn. :) Can I talk to you about DRW? I remember when the term was first coined, but I'm uncertain what it entails these days. Does it still involve the 13 Principles of Belief?
I'd like to present it to the newbies in my group, but I wish to be up to speed on the topic. Many thanks. Have a lovely day. :)
