Where Wiccans Come Together

Rose Laxzi

The New, the Pulls, the Confusion [Which way should I go?]

A simple little discussion of those that may have the same problems as I do. Or those that has good advice.

I am a recent new member of the community, and I do have some problems. For instance, I was born in a Christian family, and had always gone to church for a long while. But I have never been able to grasp that what the Bible says is the absolute truth. I am pretty sure that others feel the same. I believe more in nature and in more than one God. I cannot grasp that it took one God to create the universe, all the galaxies, lifeforms and such. There had to be more than one to help keep an equal balance.

For those small reasons, I've started to turn to Wicca. But again, I was born into a Christian family. How would I tell my own mother that I don't believe in just one God, but the Goddess and several others as well? I just am in a mix, considering that there's that pull and then there's the pull towards Wicca. Who hates being trapped in the middle of things?

But yes... If anyone would like to comment, or give advice or share similar experiences, feel free to post.

I just told my mother that all Gods and Goddesses are aspects of her one god and fill in with various bible verses and such. (With my upbringing I can argue anything from a biblical stand point;) She is no longer so sure I am wrong and coined the term Christian mystic to refer to me when her friends ask. Its easier then explaining I argue with the preacher and poke holes in her faith.

Blessed Be

Ahh... I wish I could do the same. I grown to be a little bit more timid about other's feelings than I could to speak my mind, though... I am very Empathic, so those who has strong emotions can, in most cases, overpower my own. I have been known to go into a depression, though I would have nothing to be depressed about.

But I hope one day, I could talk with my mother and that she'd accept what I have to say. Be blessed by the God and Goddess, and thank you for replying.

Merry Meet Rose Laxzi! Take comfort in knowing that MANY of the people here have faced your same situation.....I was raised in a half Jewish/half Catholic home. It wasn't until my parent's divorced when I was 5 in 1986 that my mom REALLY devoted herself to her Catholic roots and tried to raise me to follow in the same path. As a kid i just kind of went along but as I grew up, I knew that this was NOT the path for me. I began to do some research (after discovering my father's Judaism wasn't really for me, either) and discovered www.circlesanctuary.org and the wonderful Selena Fox! I relied on the internet for info. for many years until I bought my first book, Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practicioner by Scott Cunningham when I was 14 and was FULLY devoted to Wicca by 15!

I didn't actually say anything to my mom as all I had were some computer print outs and a book and TONS of curiosity. BUT, once I became interested in actually PRACTICING Wicca (about 15 1/2yrs.) I went all out.....I bought a censor, incense, candles, and some other small things. She hated it but I have always been very strong willed - I told her that I was no longer going to a church I did not believe in and that I was pursuing a new religion that was important to me. Was that the best way to nadle things? Probably not! I could have sat her down and tried to talk things over but that really wasn't my style then. HOWEVER, I have grown and matured since then and that is what i would advise you to do.

Once you are SURE you want to become a Wiccan (and understand what being a Wiccan is, what the difference between being a Wiccan and Witchcraft are, that you understand that you can be a Pagan AND Christian (but not a Wiccan and Christian or Practice Witchraft and be Christian...), try to explain that you have found a religion that speaks to you more than your current one does and you would like to discuss it with them. Try having print outs and books that you can read together so they don't feel as though you are pushing THEM away - just begining your own Path. The bottom line is, your parents love you and only want what is best for you so if they are upset, let them be...if you are truly devoted to being Wiccan and practicing, eventually they will come around and respect that!

Many Blessings to you............ )0( Jenn

Donka, Jenn. That means a lot to hear from others that has/had the same situation that I am in. I don't know what to tell to anyone, since I'm more easily influenced through emotions than thought or action (most the time, anyways).

Being 19 years of age is difficult, especially if you had been questioning what you had to live with before being turned to other ideas that appeals more to you than what you had to live with previously. I hope that I could figure out what I would like instead of what my mother would want of me.

I would advise you to visit my group:

There are many files/discussions on grounding, shielding, and even printouts for others to read concerning the path you may be on. I think you need to learn how to ground yourself and learn how to shield yourself from others emotions, or shield your emotions from others...I take it you are a water energy....or an air energy...learn to protect yourself.

Live Well,

Burning Books (Book Review)

Who qualifies as the biggest book-burner in history? Caliph Omar, the Muslim potentate who (as legend has it) torched the library at Alexandria? Savonarola, with his Bonfires of the Vanities? Josef Goebbels who, whenever, he heard the word culture, reached for his petrol can? My personal vote would go to our own Bomber Harris. When the RAF firebombed Dresden in February 1945 it incinerated some

Indigenous Grandmas Nearly Kicked Out Of Vatican

They went to pray. They went to see Pope Benedict XVI on his home turf. They went to ask that he rescind historic church doctrine that played a role in the genocidal onslaught of millions of indigenous people worldwide. For 13 indigenous grandmothers, accomplishing only one of their three goals wouldn't have been so bad - had they also not been harassed by several Vatican policemen who claimed

Law Of The Jungle

Nature tries hard. I was watching a black ant drag a flake of oatmeal through blades of grass at an alpine lake last weekend, thinking what a hero the little guy was going to be when he got home, when it occurred to me how much junk I had to carry to survive for a few days in the wilderness. A few weeks ago a series of aerial photographs were sent around the world showing a small clan of "uncon
