The Pledges of Faith

I swear to uphold natural law and to never sit idly by injustice.
For where one suffers I also shall. Be it tears or blood I will not recoil.

I give myself over to none other and myself.
I have lived through now a thousand deaths and then for me, still one more.

Always I will bow and you shall bow unto me.
As equal now we sit upon the bench, but careful the wood is weak.

One shall teach the other and both will learn.
Let the pride of one not make them slow, of several things I know nothing.

Who shall hand fast these two, love will pay most any cost.
No greater light than being entwined, no matter of the match.

Of great evil and good the world is made but greater than both will I.
The shadow and sun are brothers and never a gift without taking.
A person is less for lying but often the truth is lesser still.

I lock my link to the chain and take for me its strength.
Seated now in higher halls, look back at what once was I.

These same great hands that built the faith shall pass it down.
From mother and father down to the child, the rightness of the world.
The greater our spirit the lesser for wanting.

Here are the arms that have built great halls.
With heavier loads I shall burden my back.

Of a womyns body let no one speak but she.
What is hers is hers and each to their own.

I will exalt the beauty of nature in all my works.
Will never find a finer form than the lines of the unclothed.

The gods are born of our minds and owe to us their power.
Has a tale been told unchanged by the words of men?

I will eat from the land and meet upon the moon lit meadow.
How well I know the fire that bakes my bread.
This cauldron also a meal will make.

I serve the helpless and hinder the harmful.
